Directions for Taking Timoptic XE

You should take Timoptic XE exactly how it was prescribed for you. You should not use Timoptic XE in larger or smaller amounts, or use it for longer or shorter than recommended by your doctor. Follow the directions exactly on your prescription label.

When you are ready to apply the Timoptic XE eye drops you should tilt your head back slightly and pull your lower eyelid down to create a small pocket. Hold the dropper steadily above your eye with the tip facing down. You should look up and away from the dropper as you squeeze out a drop. Close your eye after administering the drop for a few seconds. Next, lightly press your finger to the inside corner of the eye (near your nose) for about 1 to 2 minute to keep the liquid from draining into your tear duct. Do not blink during this time.

You should only use the amount of drops that your doctor has prescribed for you. Wait at least 10 minutes before applying any additional eye drops that you have been prescribed.

You should not use the eye drops if the liquid has changed colors or if it has particles in it. If this is the case you should contact your doctor for a new prescription.

Do not attempt to make the hole on the eye dropper any bigger.

Timoptic XE is intended for adult use only. Do not administer Timoptic XE to children.

Timoptic XE needs to be stored either at room temperature, or in the refrigerator. Do not freeze Timoptic XE. Keep the bottle tightly closed and away from both moisture and heat. Do not over tighten the cap as it may damage the bottle or cap.
