As the health insurance exchanges created by the Affordable Care Act become active, questions still remain about the day-to-day details surrounding prescription drug coverage under Obamacare. For patients who find themselves with increased drug costs, ordering prescription drugs online through The Canadian Pharmacy is a smart, money-saving option.

Controversy continues to burn over Obamacare in the wake of the U.S. government shutdown. Too many questions remain unanswered about the nuts-and-bolts application of healthcare plans purchased through the state exchanges.
The Affordable Care Act, nicknamed “Obamacare,” will change the amounts that many patients pay for medications, and patients with high-cost pharmaceuticals are left wondering how much of their prescription costs they will be responsible for under their new plans.
In fact, according to The New York Times, some plans may require patients to pay as much as 50 percent of the cost of very expensive medications. Tensions are rising as patients with monthly medication costs of $4,000 and even higher consider what this might mean.
Even more frustrating, no centralized system for evaluating coverage options currently exists. For patients, this means that they will need to visit numerous websites, call customer service lines and analyze records in an attempt to make the choice that will best fit their needs. While insurance plans are required to offer a certain percentage of available medications (which varies depending on the state offering the plan), some advocates for patients with health conditions such as multiple sclerosis, cancer and autoimmune disorders that require specialty medications are concerned about the availability of these medications.
Fortunately, officials are stating that patients will have six months to assess their options and decide on the best plan for them. Many say that some confusion is to be expected since the system is so new and that all the kinks will eventually work themselves out. Additionally, if patients find that their medication is not covered by the plan they choose, they have the option to lobby their plan for a medical exception.
David Zimmer, president of The Canadian Pharmacy, is concerned about the high cost that patients in the U.S. are paying for their medications, even under the new health care system, and offers another solution for lowering their prescription drug costs.
“Patients shouldn’t have to worry constantly that their medication prices are going to skyrocket,” says Mr. Zimmer. “Our team at The Canadian Pharmacy wants our friends in the United States who are concerned about the costs of their necessary medications to take a look and see if ordering prescription drugs online will help them lower the costs of their medications.”
The Canadian Pharmacy, which is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, has been serving the needs of patients both locally and internationally for the more than 10 years and remains dedicated to providing high-quality medications for lower prices.
